History of Hawaiian Gardens
Origins: Opened in 1933 by John Lo Curto as an Italian eatery named Lo Curto Gardens, it was rebranded as Lo Curto's Hawaiian Gardens around 1938 and evolved through the pre-tiki and golden tiki eras.
Venue & Entertainment: It featured South Seas styling, tropical libations, and later hosted legendary musical acts like Ray Charles, Sly and the Family Stone, and the-then Cory Wells Blues Band.
Later Years: The venue closed as Hawaiian Gardens in 1966, later operating briefly as a go-go club called The Losers—North before becoming Italian Gardens.
