Vintage Native American finely woven lidded trinket basket.
Technique: Created using a labor-intensive, closed wrapped twining technique, which produces the characteristic "tile-like" stitch and slants the warp in the direction of the weave.
Materials: Traditionally made from twisted cedar bark with an overlay of beargrass or slough grass, using natural dyes for color.
Design: The small, lidded form (often called "trinket" or "work" baskets) frequently features geometric patterns in natural and dark brown/black colors.
It is suitable for use as a jewelry or trinket box.
