This is a vintage Southwestern Native American bird fetish necklace.

The Fetishes: The delicate bird charms are hand-carved out of shimmering iridescent Mother of Pearl (MOP) shell. Animal and bird carvings in Indigenous jewelry are culturally referred to as fetishes, which are historically prominent in Zuni, Navajo, and Santo Domingo traditions.
The Strand Components: The birds are strung along very fine, cylindrical tubular sterling silver beads known as liquid silver strands, accented by small round silver beads and tiny organic shell spacers.
